Singapore
City-state of hawker stalls and rooftop bars, Marina Bay laser show, Gardens by the Bay, four cultures in one square kilometer.
About Singapore
Singapore packs a whole region into one small, dazzling island. On the water, a future skyline glitters — the three towers of Marina Bay Sands, the Merlion spouting into the bay, and the sci-fi Supertrees of Gardens by the Bay lighting up above two cooled glass conservatories. But the soul of the city is in its hawker centres, where the food of four cultures meets under one roof — Hainanese chicken rice, chilli crab, laksa and satay, a tradition so beloved it sits on UNESCO’s heritage list. Walk it all in an afternoon: the temples and medicine shops of Chinatown, the garlands of Little India, the mosque and boutiques of Kampong Glam, the beaches and rides of Sentosa. It is famously clean, safe, green and efficient — a “city in a garden” — and Changi may be the only airport worth arriving early for. Compact, multicultural and tropical year-round, Singapore is Asia at its most effortless: the easiest, tastiest introduction to the continent there is.
Stay in Marina Bay for the icon view, Orchard for shopping + family, or Chinatown / Tiong Bahru for character + food. Avoid Sentosa unless theme parks are the entire trip — it's isolated from real Singapore.

Money-Saving Tips
- 1Eat at hawker centres — Lau Pa Sat or Maxwell — for $4–7 meals that locals queue for.
- 2EZ-Link card or Singapore Tourist Pass gives unlimited MRT + bus rides for $17 (3-day).
- 3Many museums + Botanic Gardens are free; Gardens by the Bay outdoor zones are free, only the domes cost.
当地交通
- 1Changi airport (SIN) → city: MRT $2.50, 30 min to Tanah Merah + transfer. Most efficient airport in the world.
- 2MRT covers all tourist zones — single fares $0.90–$2.50, day pass $10.
- 3Grab is the local Uber; budget S$15–25 for short rides, S$30–40 for cross-city.
Most Common Mistake
Budgeting only 1 night for a "stopover" — give Singapore at least 2 full days; the food alone deserves it.
2–4 nights
- • Bali (2h 30m flight)
- • Kuala Lumpur (5h bus / 1h flight)
- • Phuket (1h 45m flight)
- • Bintan, Indonesia (1h ferry)
