Warsaw is a cheap, alive, free-flowing city full of young energy — set aside the museums and the heavy history for a moment; you come here for great food, absurdly cheap shopping, good drinks and nightlife that never stops. The simplest thing is to just go with the flow: eat pasta and pizza at Elektrownia Powiśle, a stunning old power station turned easygoing food hall where you grab a drink, pick something from one of the stalls and sit outside on the grass with the locals; stroll the Vistula Boulevards on a summer evening — just buy a beer or a cocktail from one of the riverside street stands, sit on the huge concrete steps and listen to the music, no pose and no reservation needed; and shop and drink your way down Mokotowska, a beautiful, style-filled street lined on one side with small boutiques (local and international) and on the other with little cafés perfect for a half-hour stop over coffee and pastry. And the most important tip: don’t over-plan — Warsaw is a city for flowing on foot, drifting from bar to bar, grabbing a poke bowl or a pizza, and discovering cool corners as you go.
